I work as a apprentice project controller meaning that I have my own area of responsibility which I need to monitor to ensure it aligns to budget and any deltas are noted, this includes regular meetings which I must run with other teams and regular reports to higher management. An example of one of the daily tasks I carry out is I must also ensure that invoices are paid and highlight any problems with contractors.
I am currently working towards my foundation degree which I can then carry on the get my honors degree. I have completed my APM qualification. I have also become a lot more confident since joining the company and feel it has massively improved my communication and presentation skills. It has helped me to become a lot more organised due to having to juggle uni and full time work and has massively improved my time management skills.
I feel the programme I am on is a great opportunity. I get to work with a diverse group of people on a daily basis and have a variety of different tasks to keep me busy and interested. The apprenticeship I feel met my expectations.
I always feel appreciated within my team and BAE as a company offers great benefits which make your work feel worthwhile. I have been involved in lots of exciting opportunities which has involved a business trip to Munich, which makes you feel as though your hard work is definitely appreciated and recognised.
The programme is very well structured after many years of running. We have regular check-ins with our scheme leaders and are always encouraged to speak up if any problems arise. We are always encouraged to get a mentor for support and we are put through a lot of training to develop our skills.
We have regular meetings with our training provider to ensure we are progressing through our apprenticeship as expected. We can contact our tutors throughout the week when we are not in Uni for support.
We receive a lot of support from our employer, through regular meetings with our scheme leader and also regular 1:1 catch ups with my manager.
My salary meets my costs well. I am able to live comfortably whilst also being able to afford commuting to work daily and being able to afford a good social life outside of work.
Yes we are always encouraged to partake in ambassador activities, especially surrounding the topic of STEM. There is also many work sporting/extra curricular teams.
Yes
I would recommend BAE Systems for an apprenticeship as it is a great opportunity for anyone leaving school and looking for experience whilst being paid. It is a company which very much looks after it's employees and has a wide and varied amount of opportunities.
Ensure that you are able to give past experience examples to support your answers gien in the interview/application process.
