Project Controller - Looking at spend, dealing with change documents (when/if they come through), speaking to different departments to get an understanding of work to be done - related to spend.
Yes, I am gaining qualifications and being put onto training courses. I have developed my skills further such as being analytical and observant of changes however, this is dependant on the roles we are placed in as to what skills we learn.
I enjoyed my first year as it was a new experience and I felt as though I learnt a lot, however, although I have learnt one or two new things in my new role I do not feel like I am learning as much from my team as what I could be doing.
They do value the employee's but sometimes the employee's don't value each other. I think the values BAE Systems hold are good and sometimes well executed, however, there are people who do not get recognition for their work.
It is well structured in terms of what is done. There is time give to study and do assignments within university. The induction was well structured and enjoyable. There is training available for Project managers etc and this is sent out centrally. Hierarchys within teams are in place and are well known around the company.
There is a lot of support that comes from central which is for training sessions and support. Support can come from other teams and external providers depending on what is needed. It is very good usually.
I receive a lot of support from most of my team but in my current role I am not getting as much support from my manager. Although they try, they never know what I need to do in my role but expect it off me and this makes it hard for me to learn.
It meets my costs well, I am able to pay for all of my living costs with money left at the end of the month. I am still able to go out and do what I want as well.
There are charity events etc that people hold and if a person wants to do something within the business they are able to do so with consent from the right people. There are always advertisements of things going on in the area and as people come from different places they always communicate different things around the offices.
Yes
It is a good place to work, although managerial support can be lacking if you enjoy what you do it can work out ok.
Read up on what BAE do. I think it really benefits people if they know about the Aircrafts etc. Also, I would only apply if you are seriously considering a career!
