I am currently working in a bid team providing project control and project management support. Day to day my workload varies as the organisation I work for is involved in a very diverse range of work. One day may be spent compiling and issuing reporting to a number of stakeholders, the next may be arranging reviews, bid submission meetings etc.
The amount I have learned in my current role is phenomenal! The wide and varied workload can be challenging but has given me exposure to aspects of Project Management and the business that, as an apprentice, I feel very lucky to have any involvement with.
I can honestly say I love my job. The role, the people, the environment and the products we produce are all fantastic. The challenge my programme presents me with keeps me engaged and far exceeds any expectations I had before joining the company.
I feel extremely valued. The feedback from my peers and seniors that I have received during my time with the company has helped to shape my development and given me a real sense of achievement. The level of responsibility and autonomy I am given as such a junior member of the business gives me confidence that I am trusted to do a good job.
The structure of my programme is excellent in my opinion. Having been in existence for 10 years now the scheme has matured and developed from the experience of previous years. Having had the chance to talk to ex-members of the scheme who are still with the business it is clear this development has been positive and we are now benefitting from it.
This is the one area of my scheme I can find frustrating at times. The university side of the course can sometimes seem a little disorganised at times but again, having spoke to ex-scheme members I am reassured that this does improve in later years.
Scheme management is absolutely fantastic. The level of support I personally and my cohort as a whole receive from our scheme managers is frankly inspiring. It's clear that they really care about their job and we benefit greatly from that.
We get a very generous salary and the ability to progress is also very generous. We are fortunate in that the route to progress is clear and achievable.
In our first year we spent a week in the Lake District on an outward bound programme which was very valuable. Outside of work we are encouraged to get involved in Education Ambassador activities.
Yes
Excellent opportunity, pay and degree. The products we make are fascinating, the work that goes in to producing them is exciting and the company is a great place to work.
The company is looking for the right people who would fit in well in this environment. The application process is straightforward but challenging and I would recommend people take time and care in crafting their application and preparing for the assessment centre.
