I have just left college and got stuck into Deloitte which is an 4 year apprenticeship. I come out with an ACA chartered accounts qualification and 4 year audit experience with this top accounting firm in the world.
I am constantly learning new skills, every client I visit I am learning new skills and gather that for the next 4 year I will be learning both on the job and off the job. (15 exams must be passed to get the qualification)
I find this programme is very interesting as you are always learning and the opportunities offered by Deloitte are second to none with the regular social events and career development opportunities.
I feel very valued by Deloitte as they (the teams) make you feel very welcome and give you a lot of responsibility and mangers on all jobs I have been on are very flexible to suit my needs.
This programme is very well structured for those that don't want to go to university (like myself). The help and support is always available and the exams and progress reviews are structured which provide helpful information to progress.
I feel that I have had a lot of support through my exams and from working with the teams. Many mangers have been eager to help me as well and my 'buddy' has been very helpful for me to get to know more people in the office.
Both the employer and the employees work together to help out the new starters in the firm. I even had some personal tutoring with one of the managers to help me get passed the exams!
The salary is suitable to the job performed, and does increase as you move through the year. I have saved enough in my first few months to buy a car, even though I still have to paid a rental expense.
So many! I have managed to get myself involved in the football team that play matches regularly. I have also been given the opportunity to apply for the Deloitte RAB Cycling challenge.
Yes
This job is a great eye opener to the real world. t brings you out of your comfort zone and help you to stretch and expand you mind as well as providing extra support, a decent salary and a great qualification for your CV.
Tips for applying would have to include, but not limited to; Be yourself at the interview, they are looking for different people than the norm, be confident, use examples to back up your skill set and most importantly, in the group exercises, get other people involved and keep and open mind.
