As a BrightStart auditor my job role will vary on a day-to-day basis, the majority of the time i am working with the rest of my audit team to complete working papers. In addition to this, i spend a fair amount of time with the client, talking through and understanding their actions more.
As part of this BrightStart scheme, i get the opportunity to gain my ACC qualification. I get to develop my professional and personal skills on a daily basis by interacting with new team members and clients. Deloitte invest a lot of time and money into internal training, which is not only informative, but is interactive and enjoyable.
The majority of the time I really enjoy being a BrightStart with Deloitte, i get given opportunities which i never thought i would be given as an apprentice. There are always going to be days which aren't enjoyable as others, but there is always support to get you back on track.
I feel valued by Deloitte, managers consider Brightstarts in the same light as graduates. Nobody ever turns down the opportunity to help you understand something in more detail, making you feel like your learning is valued by all.
The structure of the programme is good, everything runs smoothly. We are given a Appraiser and a Buddy when we start, so there is always someone to ask questions if there is an issue. But this is very rare and everyone knows what they are doing.
When in college we have a tutor who is consistent for the whole of the course, this is especially important as they make themselves accessible and the first point of contact if you ever have a question regarding the learning material.
There is always someone to talk to, the majority of any issues i feel confident enough to communicate myself. However, there is always someone who is willing to help me; appraiser, buddy, colleague
The pay as a BrightStart in the first year is not anything special, but it is presumed you would be living at home so it is reasonable for travel and daily living costs, plus some left to save. They cover transportation to and from client site, which is very helpful and generous.
There are company events, however i haven't personally attended many so i am not really in a place to comment on these, this is purely because they clash with my other commitments. From what i hear they are enjoyable.
Yes
I have in fact suggested Deloitte to 2 people in the year below, both got to the interview stage. It is a great alternative to university as you end up fully qualified. And you get the weekends off to go and visit friends at university, so you don't miss out on that experience completely
My main tip for anyone who is applying to be a BrightStart is to be yourself and prepare questions, as you can never ask too many questions. It is more suspicious to not ask questions as it is impossible to know everything
