I am an apprentice within the Infrastructure Solution Design team. This means that we design infrastructure solutions that are provided to us by project managers representing platform teams. Most of our customers are internal and we rarely communicate with external general public.
I have sat an passed the ITIL fundamentals qualification as well as attending courses such as CISCO, Windows, Security and Mainframe Fundamentals which have all given me a good fundamental understanding of different professional principles.
I enjoy my team and the company very much, as I think the flexible working opportunities and all of the self development opportunities such as building careers and other internal events. Above and beyond my expectations of a working office environment.
I feel appreciated by all my colleagues here at RBS and feel I am often recognised for any good work I do, this can be in forms such as positive feedback and living our values nominations. I feel that work I am involved in has all been thought out to make sure it provides me with value and experience to reach my goals and targets.
I feel the induction was helpful but made the starting of my full time role harder due to lack of information provided to me about my role and qualification. The information about the qualification was quite woolly and wasn't explained as well as I feel it should of been. We did not know what roles we would be moving into until the day before we arrived, leaving a few of us feeling apprehensive and unsure. I feel I regularly catch up with my accessor however the contact between them and my manager is poor and my manager is not often updated on changes or progress from the apprenticeship providers.
I believe the support is there if we need it but otherwise communication from accessor and apprenticeship provider can be poor. The tutors at courses are great and always make it easy to learn and understand.
I feel my employer provides me with any support I should need, such as flexible working etc. I have weekly 1 to 1s with my manager and we always discuss my work and how I am progressing, I feel this makes me feel much more comfortable about my work and why I am doing it. The company as a whole seems to value apprentices quite well and work hard to help them develop their skills, both technical and professional.
Very well,I feel the pay is very fair and reflects well on the work/training I do and my lifestyle as a young person
Yes there are lots of charity events and networking opportunities as well as team lunches and nights out for certain celebrations.
Yes
The working culture is great and all the networking, leaning and flexible opportunities make this a great place to work. Fell very valued throughout the whole organisation
Make sure to prepare for interviews sufficiently
