My job title is Assistant Relationship Manager and my role is to support 3 commercial relationship managers in looking after their customers. My day to day job is to speak with customers and ensure their needs are being met and in situations where they need help it is my responsibility as first form of contact to help that customer.
I have achieved the professional bankers certificate after passing this exam last year. I have also completed all the BPP Task books in the time required. I have been on training courses throughout my time in the bank for things such as Credit Skills, New Business and Financials.
Overall I have really enjoyed the program. The job I have been doing has been very rewarding despite being challenging and the team I have worked with have been nothing but supportive with me. I was not expecting to enjoy this opportunity as much as I have as I have met some great people and made a lot of friends so therefore the program has surpassed my expectations.
I feel valued by my Line Manager and boss who always give me praise if I am doing something well but will also give me a push if I need to step up my performances.
the induction was very well organised and set out what I would be doing over the year well. I do feel however some of the learning resources made available by the BPP could of been better as the practice exam questions on the site were nothing like the level of complexity of my actual exam questions. The support I had from my colleagues and line manager was good and I was jus very unlucky that over the course of the year I ended up having 3 different assessors, although this was frustrating at the time, I know it was not BPP`s fault for this.
with my third and final BPP assessor I received a lot of support and help with anything I was struggling with. This was good as I didn't feel this sort of level of support with my previous first 2 assessors, I enjoyed working with my assessors and believe they all did genuinely want to help.
Whenever I have needed support from my employer I have received it, whether it has been for a personal issue or a work related issue. I also have the contact details and training to contact the HR team should I ever feel I need more support, although I have never had to go down this root.
the salary is above and over what I was expecting, it covers all my living, travel, daily and social costs. I could not ask for more in this regard and feel the wage is more than accommodating of my role.
I have been involved in many outside of work company events such as manufacturing seminars and awards ceremony's. I have also had the opportunity to take part in charitable voluntary work outside the office as well such as a shoe box appeal for the Samaritans Purse.
Yes
Because overall I have learnt a lot during my time here and have continually developed my skills. I am a much more confident person now and have made many good friends who I would not a have met without the RBS.
the advice I would give to others applying would be to always give 100% and be proactive in your approach once in the job. No one will ever criticise you for trying something new, or asking a question.
