I Work for a platform called core customer. my role within this platform is currently restricted to being educated on how to preform technical tasks on the mainframe. this is a long process with a lot to learn.
my technical skills have greatly improved in my time at RBS and I have been able to learn how to conduct myself in a professional way in regards to timekeeping and presentation skills
the work is always new to me and that keeps it fresh and challenging. I have the privilege of working alongside much more experienced staff who are all welcoming and friendly. the company itself is very flexible to my needs and seems to value my education in the hopes of training me to be a productive member of the workforce.
my team and managers have all been kind and considerate when dealing with me and my work. they are always willing to explain things to me and listen to my input. when I need to take time off work for personal reasons they always support me and ensure I can balance my work and personal life.
most of RBS seems inexperienced when dealing with apprentices but despite this they have taken time to organise a plan for the two years I am on my apprenticeship. this plan is flexible to suit my needs and is worked through between myself and my mentors.
I meet regularly with my training provider for both training and to review the state of my apprenticeship. they are very supportive and are very proactive in their role.
my managers, mentors and HR contacts have all expressed their support for me and my work whenever I have needed it. the support was mush more constant in the first year but now in my second year I am being given more room to work independently while still being able to ask for help at any time.
with my current salary I am able to pay rent, commute via train, eat well and socialise as much as I want. most of my friends are students and none of them have access to as much income as I do. this means that I can happily afford to live my life with no money problems.
the company promotes volunteering and company clubs very strongly and provides plenty of opportunities in this regard. the company puts on lots of events and training courses and allows me to experience more things.
Yes
they are a wonderful company that allow great career development for apprentices. they are very friendly and proactive in ensuring that you have everything you need to become a skilled professional. they are flexible and considerate regarding your life outside of the office and will pay you very well as long as you are ready to work.
the application process is long and complex relative to many apprenticeships but not gruellingly difficult as it may appear. right now the company is in a situation where they need apprentices and that means that as long as applicants can show they are hard working and can work towards the company values then a lack of technical skills or experience will not hold you back.
