My Job title is Relationship team officer and it involves supporting relationship managers with their job. my daily responsibilities can be anything from being a point of contact for a customer to dealing with complaints or preparing information for meetings.
During the Apprenticeship Scheme I have developed my IT and time management skills , I have done this by studying for a chartered banker exam alongside working full time. I have also learnt about networking.
I really enjoy the RBS apprenticeship programme , the team have welcomed me alongside supporting me in growing my knowledge and skills to future my horizons within the bank, the Job role it self is interesting and studying towards a banking certificate is beneficial to me.
I feel valued by the bank due to the on-going support , good salary and opportunities to grow and network. I am involved in team meetings and treated the same as anyone else in the bank despite entering at an entry level.
The programme is well structured , I have a study guide and planner to support the academic side of the job. I have a regular meetings with my line manager , and the opportunities to have a mentor to learn about different aspects of the bank.
The training provider offer a range of facilities to support me in passing my apprenticeship and chartered banker exam, The training provider has provided me with textbook and revision books , a tutor , study planner and live classroom sessions which sometimes work.
I receive on-going support from different areas within the bank, my line manager has regular meetings with me to make sure I am happy and I am doing all I want to be doing within the bank for example exploring different areas or going on networking events. ,Relationship managers within my office take me out on client meetings and share their knowledge and expertise with me.
The salary is very good especially taking into consideration salary's of other apprenticeship schemes on offer and that I am aware of. The salary comfortable meets my living , travelling and social costs.
Yes , I have participated in a number networking events outside of work as well as being supported to participate in charity work should I wish to give back to the local community.
Yes
It is a good opportunity to learn about how a large organisation works alongside on-going support from a training provider , line manger and the organisation itself. The salary is good and there are a lot of opportunities to network and propel your career within the bank.
I would advice anyone applying for an apprenticeship to fully research the job role and the organisation , show a willingness to learn and collaborate in networking events. Also do not be afraid to ask questions and take any opportunities within the bank.
