I am an assistant relationship manager. I have been dealing with account opening proformas, BACS & Bankline queries. I dedicate one whole day per week solely to my apprenticeship, so I can use the remaining day to focus on my job role.
Yes. I will acquiring a new qualification in the Professional Banking Certificate. I have developed my communication skills as I am speaking to clients on a day-to-day basis. I have also improved my computer skills as I am using software that I have never come across.
I work in a very supportive team. At first I was a little nervous joining as I haven't had any banking experience before. Now I feel like I have settled in very well and feel part of the team. I do enjoy working in this team.
I feel valued by the colleagues around me. Whenever I need assistance the support staff are always there to help. As my time has gone by in this apprenticeship, I am becoming more involved in the tasks.
It is very well structured in the sense of a timetable of when the online learning classes are. I do feel that the 6 practice online tests that we need to take are not very well spaced out. There is a lot of information that needs to be revised, and with the workload that I deal with it isn't too easy to juggle everything at once.
Rachel is great. We speak whenever necessary and whenever I have any questions there is no hesitation from me to contact her. We have arranged to have a monthly conference call where we discuss my apprenticeship and how my day-to-day job role is going.
There isn't much support that is necessary to be received as of yet. Whenever I have any questions or have things that I am unsure on, I can contact Rachel. I am sure once the apprenticeship progresses and I require support from my employers that I will receive it.
My salary/package as whole does meet my living costs pretty well. A lot of people think that an apprenticeship is extremely low paid, but this is definitely not the case. Travel can be expensive, but salaries differ depending on the location so putting things into perspective it is completely fair.
Yes there are. As an RBS employee, we receive frequent emails from numerous teams who will give us updates on any events or seminars that are taking place. There are a lot of voluntary events that we are able to take part in which is really good as it gives the company a fantastic reputation.
Yes
There are plenty of opportunities in this organisation where there is a lot of room for progression and promotion. There are a lot of interesting characters and you can really develop yourself as a person here. There are so many different teams to choose to work for, which proves how dynamic this organisation is.
Make sure that this is something you want to do and you find the industry interesting. For the interviews, it is vital that you are prepared for anything that they could ask you. It is important to make your voice heard here, and let people know that you are here for a long term career and that you want to add as much value as possible.
