My job title is Cyber Threat Hunting and Analytics. On a day to day basis I create indicator of compromise alerts and any other task my manager assigns to me. I have a daily call every day with other teams in the organisation. I raise tickets with external partners on a daily basis to get IP and Domains blocked or for them to analyse a file. I am responsible for the phishing emails that come into the business. Different projects I have worked on involve looking at different vendors and decided what one we want to use in the bank, reviewing a bit of software to create a presentation on and show it to high level members of staff and improve the IOC process
My general knowledge on computers has increase and I am now quite advanced when it comes to malware. I have also attended a networking course which increased my knowledge with networking
The work can sometimes be quite lacking. My team is nice and friendly but there is only 4 of us and 1 works in another country and one rotates teams every 8 months. The people around me are very nice and friendly and made me feel welcome from day one.
My manager always praises me if I have done a good job. When in different meeting with people of various levels I can have my say.
Not very organised. The structure changes every couple of months so people are always moving and teams names are always changing
Not much. A meeting every month or 2 to make sure I've done a unit. Apart from that I don't get answers to my emails even If they are urgent and any time I do go and ask for help it mostly makes me more confused
A lot. RBS and my manager are very flexible with what I do
The salary package meets my costs. The location of my workplace is horrible and I have to do more than 3 hours traveling a day. The downside is the quality and level of work I do is not matched by the salary so I'm doing higher level work for a lower level salary
There are many business events and social events
Yes
Very flexible, good pay and good experience
