I am training as a PMFA within the Portfolio Management team for invoice finance. There are various tasks I work on day to day which mainly look at managing and spotting any risks that could or have occurred. It is a non-client facing role, which means my days are spent in the office and monitoring various clients day to day.
I have learnt a range of new skills since joining, my computer skills have developed due to the various programmes I am using day to day. My ability to spot and highlight risk have also improved.
I am really enjoying my programme due to the fact I am working and learning at the same time, what I do day to day helps in regards to my actual apprenticeship in regards to my exam. I work with a brilliant team who have supported me throughout my training in the PMFA role which I am still training in, and have helped in regards to my apprenticeship work.
In terms of my team, and the managers I work alongside I feel very valued and appreciated in my role. I feel my contributions are valued, and I have been recognised for spotting various risks, and helping others on a daily basis.
My programme is very well organised, I was given just over two months to settle into the bank and the role before starting my apprenticeship work, this allowed me to learn some basic skills and knowledge which helped when I started my studying. In regards to the webinars, sometimes they aren't as helpful as I would like, topics and sections can be rushed over and muddled up on occasions which does make it slightly harder, however the webinars can be accessed again and there are notes available online, as well as my study quide and various other resources.
There is always a great response to any queries or problems I have in regards to the programme, my assessor is very supportive and having monthly calls helps me stay on track and voice any other issues I may have.
I receive great support from both my team and my line manager, my line manager is extremely supportive in my development on both the scheme and within the role I am being trained in. He is very positive in regards to my work, and is pushing me to achieve in both apprenticeship and job role.
In regards to travel costs the salary could possible consider the rising cost of daily travel, especially the trains which cost me £5.60 a day. However, the salary meets my current situation well.
Yes, within RBS many events are available to attend.
Yes
RBS have provided me with a great platform, although my future within the bank is uncertain due to changes within IF. RBS are a great company to work for, especially for women, they are focused on more women progressing into higher roles, and their main focus is customers which is reflected in daily life within the bank as the drive is delivering the best we can to our customers/clients.
When applying to RBS ensure you research the company well, and also the job role in which you are applying for. It is important to be confident throughout the application process, highlighting your strengths, and how your own skills, knowledge, and personality fit what RBS are looking for. Always assert yourself well, and remain positive about yourself and what you can achieve.
