I work in the mortgage lending unit within credit risk. My day-to-day job involves assessing mortgage applications and making credit decisions on whether to approve or decline them based on information provided.
My communication skills have significantly improved since starting the programme. From contacting brokers/customers to general interaction with my team. Other skills include having an eye for detail and being able to analyse and understand complicated documents.
I enjoy my programme as it has allowed me to join the bank at a very early stage, I'm learning a lot and progressing onto more complicated tasks. The opportunities provided by the bank once you role off the programme are good too and definitely an important factor for me.
I feel generally well valued by RBS. The compensation package is great and team and managers are always keen to know how you are getting on and how to improve.
The structure of the programme is good. I am part of the first batch of apprentices to join this specific unit and therefore it has been new to them. The learning has been steady and progressive which is great.
Support from my training provider has been ok, I don't really feel as though i've needed any extra support so that's good but the contact has been minimal.
Support is excellent, I'm always asked oon how they could make things better for me and therefore feel really well supported. Managers are always helpful and happy to accommodate any requests you have.
The salary package is excellent. It definitely covers more than enough of my costs and I feel this is a great starting salary.
There are numerous social events that go on which you can always get involved in.
