My role is 'Technical Analyst' which encompasses a variety of roles within my area. This ranges from checking and loading data tapes into machines, to monitoring ticketing software and forwarding as required. As I mature in my role I will be working more in Networking, monitoring customer hardware and discerning any issues, to then forward the information (and ticket) to the relevant engineer.
I have learnt a lot of practical and theoretical skills and knowledge. This has been picked up from QA Training courses, internal courses, and shadowing various staff members whilst they perform their daily routine.
I find it interesting but can be quite slow at times due to having to wait for clearance before being granted access to certain accounts. However I am hoping to get more hands on once full clearance is obtained.
I feel valued in some respects, as in having my achievements at my course recognised. Sometimes I feel that I would like to be put to more use, at times I feel I am used for 'boring' tasks that other people in my area don't want to do.
I believe it is quite well organised; my assessor attends my work place regularly and I am completing a good degree of work in a good time scale. However I feel that the flexibility of external courses is rather poor; I was unable to make a course due to pre-booked holiday that I could not cancel or move, however the only other option for me now is to go to London for a week.
I receive enough support, my assessor is quick to reply to communications such as email and visits monthly.
Some support when shadowing other people in the work place which is useful. However sometimes I feel that there is no time/will available to answer any questions I may have.
I am finding that my salary is quite stretched at the moment. I am paying rent, food shopping, travel and more as I am fully independent from my parents. I am hoping to earn more in future, the only reason I am trying to live on this money currently is due to hope that I will have good opportunities at Atos in the future.
I am taking part in the Brathay Challenge currently which is a community engagement type event. I am hoping there will be some work events in future that don't operate soley from London. There is a whole country of Atos employees; not just those who work in the small bubble that is London.
Yes
Because there are some good opportunities available; one just needs to get through the initial period of low pay and waiting for clearances to actually be able to work properly.
Apply for clearances as soon as possible, I was not informed about the stringent need for them and I was weeks in before someone even mentioned it to me.
