  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is essentially working within the project management office, in governance and assurance. In a nutshell, I help with collating information for internal and external reporting. I communicate with project managers quite frequently in order to update information for monitoring and tracking.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt how to use Excel effectively. Before I started, I was completely unfamiliar with the package. I have developed an understanding of processes and project management specific knowledge through my workshops and examinations. As I have to communicate to different people, it has built my confidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work itself is valuable and comes with decent responsibility considering I am at the foundation of my career. Most people are willing to help and there is a decent amount of support. However, there is alot of remote working across many of the accounts which probably isn't the best thing when you have just joined or if you are new to the working environment. Sometimes the lack of personal physical interaction feels like there is no support. In regards to this, it was not exactly how I expected it to be but I have gotten used to it now. Overall, the culture is nice and I enjoy it

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Atos?
  • I feel fairly valued by ATOS. Manager shows good recognition and praise when appropriate. Managers try to accommodate your needs of working in different tasks. However, there could be more done for social welfare.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The training is structured with block training throughout the year. There is a routine 1-1 review with the tutor which is really beneficial and there is good support from my Tutor. However, I feel that the communication from the learning provider is slightly disjointed from the organisation.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Tutor provides a good amount of support and always welcomes a 1-1 session where need be. They are willing to provide guidance to general problems too. The tutor has in-depth knowledge and experience on project management

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Due to the size of the company - The personal touch with HR is not there. However, if you are able to know specific people working in HR, then they are always willing to help. I feel that the employer can be more supportive by providing some time off during the working week to work towards our portfolio. Work wise, the manager is always willing to provide support - however the remote working can sometimes make it difficult to get the support on time

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Living, travel & food costs are extortionately high in London. I personally think it doesn't but I see the scheme as a gateway to a progressive career long term which in relation would increase my salary package. On the contrary, the flexibility to work from home helps save costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is opportunity for volunteering if you independently are able to find this opportunity. It is also subject to the manager's discretion. It would be great if the employer has links with charities which makes it easier for one to volunteer. There is hardly any company social/networking events as well as leisure sports/clubs outside work.

  • 9. Would you recommend Atos to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall, an enjoyable programme which provides good responsibility. Only for those who feel they can work independently. The package I would say is NOT below the market level and there is good opportunity to do extra training and progress within the career. They are also flexible with working needs.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Atos?
  • Do as much research as you can on ATOS and their competitors. I would advise, before the assessment & interview day, that you reflect on all of the experiences and skills you've gained from the academic life as well as extra cirricular clubs and work experiences. The on-boarding process can be lengthy. Moreover, use the interview to find out as much as you can about the role so that you have a clear expectation of what you are expected to do in your role and how the working environment is.
