I move around from area to area on placement learning new talents such a C N C milling , hand fitting, C N C turning, C N C grinding and maintenance. during these placements you have to gather information about what you do in that job to fulfill the criteria set by your NVQ
I have learnt so many skills during my apprenticeship due to moving around every 4 months you learn to pick up new skills quickly and you become more proactive. you also learn social skills, as you are constantly meeting new people with whom you are to work with so you have to get along with them
I really enjoy the programmed as it has taught me all the skills that are required to complete my qualification. and it has also taught me social skills so I can be more confident around people. I have always enjoyed being hands on so being a craft apprentice was a good fit for what I enjoyed
Yes I do feel valued by Siemens as they have supported me through college when I was struggling and have supported my throughout my NVQ. Every 8 weeks you have a review with your entry level talent coordinator where they suggest improvements for your work and its a general summary between you and your manager to see how you are getting on
they program is well structured to ensure that you learn as much as possible during your time and to also get you as much exposure as possible to all the areas so when It comes to the end and you are looking to get a job you will be able just to jump straight in.
we get a lot of support during our time as they help out if you are struggling at college. they also help out a lot if you are struggling wit your placements as they can point out where or what you are doing wrong and how to fix it. so yeah they offer a lot of support.

the salary is very motivating as it encourages you to work hard in order to get the next criteria. it is sufficient money as you are training all the time. it pays for transport to work/college and then when you are in the later years it helps to move out and become independent.
yes there are many opportunities out side of work such as going to Siemens hosted events or just a small stall. you can also volunteer in local hospitals or nature parks. there are plenty of charity events as well such as charity football matches. you can even go and visit your old school to help talk about apprenticeships
Yes
I think the apprenticeship is very rewarding with great motivation to work harder. the training is really good and gets you everything you need to follow that field of work and progress your career. and it also helps you learn new social skills within the workplace making you more confident.
be confident it what you are saying. ensure you know what you are on about and have a good knowledge of the business e.g what we do, how long have we been running, how many people work here. show a interest to the business and engineering and you will be fine.
