Currently I am helping control the supply and demand IBM are ordering for IBM servers against orders from internal and external companies. There are a lot of daily conference calls which help communicate with other IBMers and the suppliers from other countries and continents in the world.
The main thing skill i have developed is presenting. I have had to present information to managers weekly/monthly and as the time goes on I am feeling a lot more comfortable doing this.
I feel the teams and people within IBM are all very approachable and friendly. Before I joined I didn't have any clue what to expect but I am very happy I have joined IBM and feel its a great opportunity.
I had to attend a 2 week induction down south and also tend to have a course every 6 months in England which usually last 1 week.
In my current job role I am shadowing loads of different people learning about there job roles and also gaining constant help. I also have a manager that is always my manager throughout the apprenticeship no matter what team I am in which allows me to always have a constant contact.
IBM have a organization called Foundation which is designed to make it easier for apprentices and graduates to enter such a big company. I feel that this helps a lot and allows you to have many contacts from the very start that you can rely on.
I believe this apprenticeship scheme is very well paid and it also helps that I live very local to the office and therefore travel costs are minimal.
Every 6 months I have a course in England aswell as occasional events with other IBMers. Giveback in the local community is a big thing within IBM which allows you to help the local community within working hours in pretty much anything that interests you.
