  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a tax analyst, and work within a small group within my business. My daily tasks range from preparing tax returns to emailing clients. I have also been able to attend briefings and client calls. Within my team there is a lot of communication with a lot of different levels allowing me to grow within the business. Externally I am able to email clients and attend client calls and briefings as well as make calls with HMRC. I am given a lot of responsibility and have recently been allocated to clients giving me even more responsibility within my team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have attended many internal training sessions to do with my day to day work that I do, helping me with the small details of the job along with how to do my job. I will start studying and attending college for my qualifications in the summer.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work I do is interesting but can get very repetitive some times especially during busy season of tax returns, however the team I am in I could not ask for better people. My team is really supportive and helps wherever they can to make my job better and more easy for me. I have been allocated a buddy as well who couldn't be more helpful. It meets my expectations and goes beyond them. It is better than I thought an office job could be and the team I' in makes the days go by quickly.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?
  • Internally within my small team I feel valued and I can tell my opinion means something to the rest of my team. People in my team let me know when I have done something well or if I have helped them with something.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Within Deloitte my role and the training they have provided has been really good. They make sure I know what I am doing and support me in my role. My Apprenticeship provider BPP could be better. At first I didn't hear from them so wasn't feeling that supported by them and when I did they weren't very clear on what I was meant to do.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • BPP at first didn't include any of the Reading people in their emailing list so we weren't getting any of the information from them. When I realised we weren't getting information from them it was really hard to get a reply from them and I didn't feel very supported in my pathway. Coach allocations should be sooner in my opinion as I didn't know who my BPP coach was until I emailed them. I feel very much like it was very one sided at the beginning. Now I know more of what I am doing it feels better however I don't hear much from BPP.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have a coach who is really supportive and we catch up if I need anything or just for a quick chat to see how I am doing. My buddy also supports me and answers any questions I have not just about the technical work but also work in general.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I believe it meets it well for me, for my travel costs and social costs. I am not renting accommodation though, and if I was I believe I would be tighter on money if I did and would have not much left for anything else.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many events to get involved in such as volunteering to talk at schools about what our job entails. There is a gym downstairs with classes which go on. I do feel though that my job hours are much longer than my other friends who work at other places so I find doing anything after work on a weekday very hard, especially with my travel home on top.

    7/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a really good experience and I feel it gives you a chance to grow as a person and meet some really good people.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Although you may feel nervous, there is no need to be. The process is different from anything else I have done, but the people who are there interviewing and taking the days along with emailing to let you know what is going on could not be more helpful and are the friendliest people which makes you feel so relaxed.
