Apprentice Software Developer, on a day to day basis I do the morning checks on a few projects we cover and on a monthly basis I switch to the night time checks and another member of the team does the morning ones.
I've learned how to code in VB.net and also a bit in C#, while also developing my skills in SQL. These are the technologies I use on a daily basis, I've also been on training courses for MySQL and PHP. Which have helped me develop.
I've enjoyed the programme so far, I've integrated well with my team and also enjoyed meeting new people on the training courses. It's been a great experience and it's well exceed my expectations
I'm pretty involved in a few projects at work, so on that front I feel well valued, as I'm trusted enough to help with that. With the options available for more training I feel like I could get involved in more projects therefore be more valuable.
It's been very organised from the start, I knew when all the courses were in advance. I have a weekly meeting with my line manager to discuss the week ahead and if we need anything specifically we need from them. I also have a weekly team meeting where we discuss what has been going on in the applications the previous week.
There is plenty support from the training provider, whenever I need any help with a module we're currently doing they reply back with some help pretty quickly. I've never felt like there was no support so it was always good knowing you had some help there if needed.
I've received a lot of support from my employer, I have a weekly meeting with my manager to discuss what sort of work we have going on. I also receive as much help as I need from all the members in my team, whether that be help in SQL / VB / PowerShell. There is always someone willing to help
So far it's been pretty good, I can only see that getting better the more qualified I become. My monthly salary is enough for me to get by and also have a decent social life. It's not the highest but it's certainly not bad.
There are a few things that happen yearly, however I've not actually attended any to comment on them. We get benefits which help cover the cost of gyms, so they help out that way.
Yes
So far they have been a great company to work for, decent salary and also a lot of good benefits. It's also a pretty relaxed work environment, but still very professional. You are made to feel very welcome from everyone at the office. So I'd definitely recommend them to friends
The application process was pretty long, and had a telephone interview as well as a group interview. Both are fine if you do some research into the company and also feel confident in yourself. There are two tests to take as well, which are relatively straight forward. But other than that I'd just say Be Yourself
