During our apprenticeship we change placements each year. Currently I work in the Project Management function. As the Project Management Higher Apprentice. My role currently day - to day involves smaller monthly tasks talking with functional leads. day today im not that busy until reporting period. Monthly however; there is a reporting cycle and this is what each month I prepare for as I create the top reporting pack that the director sees.
Developed on my Project Management learning though going to Conferences. Understood the reporting cycle in the function. Learnt how to use basics of Excel. For me nothing of significance.
The work currently is different to what I thought it would be , being busier. Currently I am actively looking for a busier placement in the future, however I really enjoy the people I work with, the culture in the company is always welcoming and friendly the company in general meets and exceeds my expectations.
Very valued in the work that I do. I know it makes a huge difference having an apprentice on hand to help teams with their work loads and a great learning experience for us. I am most valued I feel when im out of the office and working with school promoting our apprentice schemes at BAE Systems.
Very well structured, you know who to talk to with any problems. the college help with settling into our assignments and mentors/ buddys are on hand to help.
with our programme we only see our tutor 1 day a week. However when we are there its all content learning therefore most communications and help is done over email or after classes.
Our HR advisor is always on hand to help. She personally is a great professional who helps and supports everyone she is in charge of no matter what the problem.
The Salary I receive is fit for purpose. I have enough that I am able to save into my savings every month for holidays/house and that I am able to enjoy my time off work with friends with dinner/drinks at the weekends if I choose to.
Yes, we are able to attend company events. WE are given time to expand our PM knowledge and go to conferences. I know they support a lot in extra volunteering roles or reserves for example.
Yes
