My job role is a Change Manager. This entails chairing the change scrum meetings which include assessing project change requests in terms of cost, time and quality constraints.
I have learnt many new skills through the apprenticeship framework as a whole. Specifically, in terms of the professional qualifications which has provided direction and support to my personal skills.
I really enjoy my programme as it allows me to work in many different integrated teams which differing cultures. This has had a positive impact on both my personal and professional development. This has definitely met, and in most cases, exceeded my expectations.
I feel very valued and acknowledge that I am supported in both my work and personal life. I have been rewarded for my performance on the programme both in terms of the projects that I have worked on and the stretch assignments that I have undertaken.
The programme is very structured and has a continuous improvement process in place to ensure we maintaining the high standard that was set out from the beginning. There have been a few issues with the organisation of the training provider, however, close stakeholder liaison has ensured that any issues have been resolved both quickly and efficiently.
This has been varied throughout the framework. There has been a weakness of the support that has been provided in terms of the Higher Apprentice part of the programme and this has improved since. The support to the Foundation degree aspects of the programme as been very good with time to speak with the tutor in order to get support and guidance on the learning material.
My employer always provides me the support I need when required. I have had a number of family bereavements since starting my programme and my employer was very supportive through all these times.
The salary does cover my living costs and also helped me secure the purchase of my first house. I am also able to run a car and provide a generous food shop.
There are plenty of opportunities outside of the working environment which include sports teams and supporting events through my role as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Ambassador.
