As a new start, I am currently learning various programming tools. Being completely new to programming this is a completely new experience for me.
Having never done any coding or programming before, anything I have learnt is new skills. Although basic skills they are new skills I didn't have before.
So far I have enjoyed the programme. As I only started in January I do not have much experience to comment on, but my time so far has been enjoyable.
The fact that CGI are taking time and money to train us and put us through university for the next four years makes me feel valued.
Again after only being here for over a month we are only are the beginning of our programme. So far the programme has been structured well.
After our two week boot camp at university, the University provided good support throughout the two weeks and before the course has began.
For the amount of time I have been here, everyone in the company is very helpful and willing to support and help you. I believe this is down to the ethos of CGI.
Currently I have only received half of my pay due to our start date. This has left me a little short, but I believe after my first full pay it will meet my costs.
Yes, the ODSC has many social events and activities outwith work. Due to my inexperience I am unable to utilise the skills I have learnt so far.
Yes
As a company they are very good to work for. The training and progression opportunities seem to be actively encouraged within the company.
The advice I would give to others is to be prepared to work hard and you will receive the same in return. Be willing to help and ask for help when needed.
