To lay new water mains and transfer the service pipes to customers properties.
I have learned numerous skills ranging from digging with shovels, different types of pipes and fittings, and even operating construction plant.
Overall it's average for an apprenticeship but poor to start with as we didn't really commence with any college work until about 6/ 7 months into the apprenticeship.
I can tell apprentices are valued to laing o'rourke, but nobody seems to be giving us a definitive answer to whether we have a job waiting for us at the end of the apprenticeship or not. So overall value is questionable sometimes.
To refer to my previous point, there was no organisation at all at the start however we're back on track now.
We get plenty of support from our college tutor now, practically and written.
They're putting me on extra training courses which aren't mandatory to the apprenticeship. And my senior agents are always very supportive.
We work long hours and have quite a lot of responsibilities with the extensive experience in have now, therefore I believe my salary isn't up to scratch for what I do.
Yes and no. In the water industry there are a lot of jobs, just not locally.
Yes
Because overall they're very supportive and willing to put you on expensive training course's.
Don't just apply because of the weekly wage advertised, read in to what you're applying for.
