My role at Lloyds Banking Group involves managing a portfolio of business clients and ensuring that their individual needs are met. Tasks vary from general account status enquiries to assistance with more complex affairs (Treasury/Business Insurance/Foreign Exchange). Above all else my objective is to ensure that clients feel satisfied and confident in the products and services provided to them.
Since starting the Apprenticeship in July 2015 I have developed upon skills such as effective communication, task management and teamwork as well as building an in depth understanding of the financial world.
The programme has provided me with, and continues to provide, an unprecedented number of new skills, contacts and confidence to assist me with my career ahead. The programme has also offered up a considerable number of challenges to overcome that force me to stretch beyond my limits and it is in these situations that my love for the experience has been found.
Within my local site I feel very valued as an individual colleague and was blown away by the quality of the office culture (Friendliness/Willingness to provide help). 'Lloyds Banking Group', as with any organisation, is only ever as good as the colleagues that surround you and so in my instance I do very much feel valued.
I am currently one of the first 14 apprentices in the history of LBG to be completing the Level 6 scheme. As a result the communications and information delivery is often varying in quality and there are still a great deal of questions that are yet to be addressed.
My direct contact at Learn Direct is almost always available to help as best he can. Problems do arise however from the fact that structured lessons are often few and far between. As a result we are often left to work towards our qualifications as individuals rather than being guided through the scheme as you'd expect an apprentice would be.
I recieve excellent support from my employer due to the understanding and generosity of my direct line manager. Yet another example of the brilliant culture within our office.
As a 20 year old my salary is far above my peers and I am generally happy with the package.
If you have the time to ask questions and put your name down for extra activities beyond the workplace then there is definitely opportunity for this. Examples include attending colleague/customer network events and internal seminars.
Yes
Overall the people that make up LBG are extremely welcoming to all and the number of skills/knowledge/experience that can be earned is top class.
It is important that the application conveys your personality and your drive to not only perform well in the role offered, but also your drive to develop and improve as you learn the finer details of the job. Give examples of times when you have had to work hard to improve yourself before achieving a successful outcome and describe how you went about making these improvements. Recognise not only the strengths you posses that can enhance your performance within the role but also your weaknesses that the scheme will help to develop.
