Mainframe Security Technician - Day to day tasks include monitoring of the External Security Manager for the Scottish Widow's mainframes
Apprenticeship qualification as well as new skills in mainframe programming languages such as JCL. Also learned SQL, UNIX as part of apprenticeship course
Programme was reasonable but I think the main reason for me enjoying it was the team I was in rather than the actual content of the course.. If I was in a different team may not have been as enjoyable experience.
Definitely valued by Lloyds Banking Group which was shown by the fact that I gained a promotion to two grades higher than I started within a year of joining and before my apprenticeship was even finished.
Programme was structured well with clear guidelines and information on junction layed out with each semester's study information/topics.
Learn Direct were supportive and were always prompt in answering / clearing up any queries we had and delivered each semester on time and as described.
Manager and LBG in general were very supportive and always allowed me time each week to complete my training materials in order to give me the best possible chance of finishing my apprenticeship as quickly as possible.
Initial salary was reasonable for myself as I was living at home, new salary after promotion is more than substantial and very good for someone my age.
The bank has numerous company events and initiatives and encourages a lot of charitable giving via it's matched donation scheme. The bank also provides fitness classes etc.
Yes
All in all an enjoyable place to work with competitive salary, good company benefits and good bonus / share schemes as well as a generous pension contribution.
Application process / interviews / assessment days are all pretty standard - do your research on the bank and prepare as much as possible.
