Every day is different in my apprenticeship, which is something I really enjoy. One day I could Bedouin GIS work for the project then the next day I could be doing paper work for a different project.
I've learnt how to use GIS and I continue to develop my skills with that. I'm learning how to work in an office environment and have developed my team work skills.
I really enjoy my programme, some days it can be a little slow but that's all part of it. I also enjoy my college course, right now it is a bit below my capabilities but I'm sure it'll pick up as time goes on.
I feel very valued, I'm constantly offered by my line manager to other projects due to my skills with GIS and quickly and efficiently I can complete work. Everyone at Motts respects me and treats me like an equal despite being the youngest in the office.
The programme so far has been very structured, with enough variation to keep it interesting.
CITB and Competence Matters both offer me a lot of support towards completing college and my SVQ.
I receive enough support but I could be offered more. I believe this is because I am the first apprentice with my line manager and so they don't quite understand what help I need yet, but they are improving.
Due to living quite far away and still being on emergency tax the end of the month can be tight. When I fix these things however I believe it will be more than enough.
I haven't heard of anything outside work so far but I'm sure I will in the future.
Yes
It's an amazing company that really cares about its employees and tries to give everyone the best opportunity they can.
Go for it, it's definitely worth it. They're better than other companies you could go with.
