Technology Apprentice Review

I am currently working in security architecture in the security department of RBS. My daily tasks include answering enquiries on our security policy from internal customers, participating in conference calls discussing all the latest security aspects of projects that members of my team are working on so that we can share ideas and topics.

I have been on a course, 'Installing and configuring Windows 7 & 10' which was very beneficial and I've been able to put into the workplace. I have upcoming courses eg. Cisco. I have learnt how to communicate effectively within a team and also how to organise my working day and making sure I plan it in advance.

I really enjoy my programme. I work with a really efficient and supportive team who are always keen to help me out when I need the help and they are very enthusiastic that they can learn from me also. The programme exceeded my expectations and I enjoy it a lot.

My manager is very supportive of me and is always keen for me to take part in any learning opportunities. I'm always recognised for any good work that I do and I am always being pushed to my full potential in order to improve but they are willing to let me go at my own speed when doing work (within agreed timescales) so that I'm not being overloaded with too much work.

My programme is very well organised. When I joined I was assigned with a buddy and a mentor in my team so that whenever I had any questions or was ever unsure about anything I was able to approach them and they would help me out. Also when I joined my manager had work already planned out for me but there was learning that she gave me to do before the work so that I understood it better which was very helpful.

I get provided with a good amount of support from my training provider, there are times where it's difficult to get in touch with my assessor but apart from that, in the actual training itself there is a lot of support provided.

I am provided with a lot of support from my employer. There are many contacts I've been given for any circumstance that should arise so I know who I would go to. They are also very encouraging and I'm given credit for any good work I do and there is so much help offered from team members and colleagues through out the bank.

My salary is extremely good and I'm very happy with it. It covers all costs such as travel expenses and lunches, etc. Was more than what I expected from the apprenticeship.

Yes, there are many opportunities advertised through work to volunteer out of work either on behalf of RBS or as an independent.

I enjoy my work very much and think it would be a great place for anyone to work. A very happy environment where people are very supportive and always willing to help, learn and develop.

I would advice people to definitely apply for RBS as there are so many good learning opportunities. And to make sure that when applying they are taking their time with it and making sure they put all effort into it and do everything they can in order to get in.
