I do not have a specific role at the moment. After being in my role since September and my team admitting they had not prepared very well for me to join I am only now being given a piece of work to do. I have done little odd jobs around the office with different people however I have only had 1 task that lasted more than a couple of hours.
I have been on a 2 day introduction to SQL server training course in November and enjoyed that - however that is the only training I have had. I am getting some web ex training on another system soon.
I am enjoying university and I am learning a lot there. I don't feel I have enjoyed my role so far - I don't feel apart of the team here and I have not settled into any type of role.
I have worked for Lloyds banking group for 3 years before joining this apprenticeship and moving into this team. I have felt valued in the past.
The structure and organisation of my day is not great however after asking to leave the team and move to another this has now kick started some sort of work to be organised for me.
I am getting a lot of support from university.
I feel supported in Uni. I do not and have not felt supported in my workplace. I don't feel my team support my uni degree after suggesting I should not be doing any of my uni work in the office although it is suggested by uni to be given a couple of hours per week to catch up on uni work. I am a degree apprentice with 1 day a week release to attend uni on a 4 year program working the remaining 4 days and feel very stressed and overwhelmed that my employer is not supporting the apprenticeship I am doing. I have been in this team since September and still do not feel welcome in this office.
Salary and benefits are great for Lloyds Banking Group. It is one of the best paid apprenticeships that I am aware of at the moment.
Lloyds banking group do a lot of charity events to raise money. We always have a day to make a difference day which includes being out the office for a day to help a charity or business in need of help.
Yes
Although I am not enjoying my current role, I have had other roles within Lloyds banking group before and have always enjoyed them. I know many of the other apprentices are enjoying the role they are in so would not blame Lloyds Banking Group as a whole.
- make sure you have a role when joining the team - make sure your team support the apprenticeship you are doing - make sure you understand the background of the team - ask for as much training as possible if it is a new role and new area for you
