For my first placement I am in F-35 & Ops Capability, my role includes doing F-35 & Ops Year-end Tax Packs – this involves supporting Operations Finance Manager with creation of Ops 2016 Tax Pack to a standard level for presentation to the company auditor. Completing contract listings on a monthly basis – I have to ensure that all new contracts are included within the reconciliations and manage actions and summary pivot tables to feed reporting. Completion of contract readiness activities via IPT sessions - Liaise with manager to collect a list of different review sessions along with interested parties. G&SM Improvements - working with other business apprentices to come up with a small process for high volume contracts and develop and maintain a checklist to indicate the status of monthly activities for housekeeping pack.
I have developed my skills in Microsoft Excel, using formulas I used back in school and gained more confidence as I have to go round to other employees and ask them where they are on a particular job.
I like the team I am in, they are all very welcoming and very helpful.
Appreciation from my manager and team. My manager makes sure I always have work so I am not just sitting around.
Very organised, they had everything for me when I started my placement e.g. pens, pad and training notes. I am getting the support I need in order for me to gain experience.
My tutor asks me now and again how I am getting on, we have meetings to see how far I am on my NVQ work.
A lot of support, as I am new to this kind of job role, I am always asking for help. I always get the help and guidance I need.
Once everything comes out e.g. Car payments, Board, car insurance I only have a bit left to cover my social costs but compared to other apprenticeships it is the best paid one.
volunteering, company activities e.g. out of bound, princes trust, German exchange.
Yes
It is a great company to work for. A lot of benefits while doing the apprenticeship and once you finish. Lots of opportunities to travel to different places.
