I currently work in the Commercial Function as a Business Management Apprentice and alternate throughout this area across the business. Therefore I undertake various roles throughout my apprenticeship, both in estimating and contracts. In my current role, daily tasks involves reading and comparing contracts, contributing to meetings and carrying out different tasks that my manager and team require me to do.
Yes. I have developed personal skills such as confidence, team work and time management during my time here but also professional skills such as knowledge of different contracts across BAE and estimating processes. I have carried out lots of training courses such as health and safety and export control. And once I complete the apprenticeship, I will have an NVQ Level 3 in Business Admin, as well as a Project Management Qualification.
I really enjoy the programme. Both teams I have worked in since starting the business have been really helpful, dependable and encouraging. I feel as if I have established great working relationships with both teams. The work I have had has also been interesting and I have learnt a lot since starting.
I feel very valued. Both my managers have always made me feel comfortable and part of the team. I have never felt left out or excluded. Also, my assessor and the apprentice team have been extremely supportive since staring!
Very well structured. The induction took me through the apprentice scheme in great detail and prepared me for the workplace. Also I have received enough training and support o get me through the programme. Each team I have been in have set objectives so I know exactly what Im doing on a daily basis and how to achieve this.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. My assessors and tutors are always there when I need advice and if I had any concerns I would know exactly who to go to.
There is constant support within the business. Whether it is on the intranet or through my manager and team. They are very supportive and inclusive. Also I have gained a mentor since starting and she has given me really good career advice.
My salary meets my costs fine. There are no problems with this.
Yes. There are constant activates to do outside my placement. I have took part in several since starting in September. These include STEM events, charity events and recruitment evenings.
Yes
Because it is a great company to work for. You will constantly learn and develop during your time here. Every day is different and I find the work really interesting. You will constantly be supported and valued.
To try your best with the application and do not rush it. Make sure you put time and effort into it. When it comes to the interview, try to stay calm as it is very informal. And finally keep an open mind on the programme and get stuck into every opportunity!
