My current role is within the export team. I send out letters to suppliers regarding Part 130 activities and changes in the export clause. I collate the responses and present them in weekly meetings.
Whilst on my scheme I have developed my presentation skills, my time management skills and my organisation skills.
There are so aspects I enjoy - I like having my own responsibilities. Some aspects I don't enjoy - such as mundane tasks and an inconsistent workload.
Within some teams I feel like a valued employee that adds to the teams capability and fills skills gaps. Sometimes however I do feel like 'just an apprentice' when I've given the jobs nobody else wants to do, i.e. filing.
The programme is well structured as we all have 4 different placement then an exit role, however sometimes we don't find out where we are moving to until very late on and it can be quite stressful.
I received support when I need it. We can speak to our assessors when we need help with anything and can speak to placement managers if we need to, who are also very supportive.
I received support where necessary.
My salary meets my needs and costs well, especially as we get pay rises every few months.
There are lots of opportunities to do other things such as Princes Trust, German Exchange, however a lot you have to be over 18 or be able to drive on company time.
Yes
It is a good place to experience a working environment and also gain the knowledge behind the business environment.
Be honest, be enthusiastic and do some research.
