My current role is Design and Product Support. This role builds experience of working with CATIA and other forms of drawings, from original foils to CATIA V4 and 5. My responsibilities include collecting DPDS prints and following the formal procedure for reporting concessions on the manufacturing line.
I had no prior experience of using CATIA software so have built on my knowledge from other computerised drawing programs. Before this placement I had used manual drawings but never come into contact with the original foils or how to alter them for updates.
I thoroughly enjoy this programme and have met plenty of new people and made some incredible new friends. I enjoy the learning and the aspect of travel, as this company spans the UK and the world the people here have huge amounts of experience and you often find yourself traveling to somewhere different as an apprentices to learn new skills and how others in the company work.
As a worker I feel very valued as I have as many rights and responsibilities as other employees and I am entitled to full employee privileges. I feel valued in the workplace and I am treated as a valued member of the team in each placement I have been in.
This apprenticeship scheme is very well planned out including both the college and workplace schemes. The education staff are well experienced and the apprenticeship can be tailored to meet individual needs and aspirations.
All the support requested is provided to the best of the training staff's ability, no faults at all with the training staff or procedures in BAE Systems. It is a very accepting workplace and they are really there to help and develop our needs.
All support requested is provided, it has so far proven to be a very supportive company to work for and any requests for help of personal development are met with the highest of standard.
The salary provided is very competitive and attractive, and increases vey well with progression through the terms of the apprenticeship. There are also benefits and discounts available for working for BAE Systems, including discount car deals, matched shares and a pension scheme.
Yes, opportunities to develop are frequently provided and are accepted by the training staff as development. An example is I attended a stepping up to leadership conference in London and the company paid for the transport there and back.
Yes
So far it has proved a very good company to work for, the wage is incredible for and apprenticeship, there are many opportunities to develop myself and the entire business is accepting and helpful to apprentices. I feel very valued in this business.
Relax and apply in your own time, don't worry about getting something wrong because we all learn from our mistakes and even costly ones are accepted as a learning experience. It is a brilliant company to work for, and with such a good salary and a paid place at university, If you fancy engineering its for you.
