I completed an Electrical/Electronic apprenticeship at L3 TRL. During my apprenticeship we were sent around various departments to develop our skills during our employment. Towards the end, we were offered a choice on which department we wanted to move into. Luckily I was offered the role that I requested (Sales)
I completed my apprenticeship with a level 4 Electrical and Electronic engineering apprenticeship and a HNC in the same qualification. During my time at TRL I also undertook many internal course that were relevant to my role (for example, I completed a Project Management course)
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship at L3 TRL. Everyone was very support and I was offered various ways to develop as an individual. I feel it has given me a solid basis to complete my career
I do feel well valued at L3 TRL. I was offered a role that has never been offered to anyone else before. I had a role created for me at the end of my apprenticeship. All my aspirations were understood and the appropriate guidance was given
The programme was well structured. 6 Weekly reviews were undertaken with the assessor to work on my apprenticeship. One day release to college also work well with completing my day to day job. Spare time was also allocated to complete any training aspects related to my apprenticeship
A lot of support was received by my training provider. 6 weekly meetings were held and never missed and they were always available on email/phone if I had subsequent queries. Our apprenticeship manager was also very supportive with allowing us to balance between the NVG/HNC and day to day work.
Our line managers were very supportive with our apprenticeship scheme. We were always able to switch between completing day to day jobs and work on our apprenticeship. Support was always offered when work became to much.
I do believe that L3 TRL could offer a better salary to their apprentices. From conversations with other companies that were on my training course we seemed to be paid the least.
Various teams has opportunities outside of work, including 5 a side football, company offsite, Christmas parties, charity work. They also were flexible if you had any priorities that were not work related.
Yes
My experience at L3 TRL was a positive one and I believe they helped me develop into the person I am today. With opportunities to constantly develop were always available for me
Experience with electrical/electronic engineering would be useful. Above C grade in Maths and Science at GCSE would be useful. I would also suggest others should have the ability to be flexibly due to the change of departments that are available.
