My job title is Project Management Apprentice. I currently work on one of the companies repairs projects. Currently I carry out general administration just as placing invoices, loading new repair items onto the system and support the Project Manager by monitoring on going repairs and keeping track of deliveries.
The new skills that I have learnt are placing invoices and using SAP. I have also developed my Excel skills and action taking skills. As well as this I have gained qualifications in Health and Safety Risk assessment and Health and Safety at work.
Currently I am enjoying this role. I have enjoyed previous roles more however I have not been in my current one very long. The team I work with are very supportive, approachable and friendly. I am enjoying the work side of my programme, the college side could be improved.
Overall I do feel quite valued by members of my team as they know I am eager to learn and are happy to provide me with new tasks. I especially felt valued internally with being asked to help support a company awards system for the second year in a row.
The introduction was very structured however as I have gone through the scheme the structure as lacked due to job cuts, and change of employees. The support I get from college could be improved as they are very hard to get hold of and for a certain amount of time I actually didn't have any contact with the college at all. However support from the business in regards to my learning has been very structured.
I have not received much support. Within the last 18 months of my course, I have had two trainers/tutors, with the first directing me in completely the wrong direction and causing a lot of rework. The second is more supportive but hard to get in contact with.
I personally receive a lot of support from my employer. It did lapse a little after the first few months due to job changes however it has now picked up and improved.
My salary package meets my costs quite well as I am able to liver comfortably and still be able to pay for transport to and from work.
As far as I am aware there are no opportunities outside of work for Project Management Apprentices.
Yes
They are a supportive company that ensures that Apprentices are looked after and allowed to flourish within the scheme.
I would advise those applying not to panic if the application process takes a long time. It took me 4 months to even hear that I had got an interview the process is long. As to interviews relax, the way that the interviews are set up creates a relaxing environment allowing you to show your true personality.
