Service and repair apprentice. We keep boilers running by maintaining and replacing parts when required. Working on multiple appliances
I came into this apprenticeship with zero experience and now I can competently carry out my role. My customer service skills have increased immeasurably . With more practice I hope to be very good at the job
It's varied, interesting and not too paperwork heavy. Always something new to look forward to and I'm fortunate enough to have made a good group of friends
I am treated with respect by all staff and am kept up to date with all news on the company with regular emails. Down on patch I feel a welcome part of the team
We were given a timetable which has been kept to slightly flexibly, but most of the time I know what's going on in the next few weeks
Training provider is always on hand to help, and if he is unavailable and alternative source of help is available
Not much communication is made between myself and British gas directly however I am confident in them if I do need it
As a first year I am on a low wage...but it is a lot better than most other apprenticeship schemes and am soon on a better rate after the first year
I would say this is a weak point but at the moment I am so focused on work I'm not fussed. Plenty of discounts on gym memberships etc available
Yes
They offer great training using great facilities, have provided me with a van for travel, all tools etc and have delivered a varied course which I have enjoyed.
Do your research on the company, make sure you have quality examples of practical experience and a practical mind. Also a love for fixing things with your hands and being challenged
