I am an Envisioning Specialist for the Microsoft Technology Centre. On a day to day basis I am responsible for the internal communications between us and other departments and provide solutions for some of Microsoft's biggest customers.
I have a Level 3 Systems and Networking qualifications with 5 Microsoft Office Specialist ceritifications, 3 Microsoft Technology Assosicate certifications and a Microsoft Certified Professional certification.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship as it has envloved working as a team and networking with people who can provide career advice and tips. It has been amazing!
I feel very valued at Microsoft from my department manager to Area Vice President for Microsoft UK. I have recieved so much positive feedback from Interns and other employees at Microsoft for my work with LGBT and other Employee Resource Groups.
The programme is very structured and has a clear journey from start to finish. I have recieve training from both QA Apprenticeship and my team to help me get where I am today.
I receive some support from my training provider today however my tutor/assessor has not been in touch for a while. These issues have been mentioned to them and no further action has taken place.
Everyday I receive so much support from my manager and team at Microsoft. I come to work with a good state of mind and leave feeling proud that I have done great things.
For the apprenticeship I had to relocate from Kent to Reading. Living costs in Reading are fairly expensive and joining at 16 I wasn't sure of what was "too expensive" so I had to find out for myself. The salary for the apprenticeship is very good however when tax is deducted and costs of transport it can easily go down.
There are loads of company events and activities Microsoft supports outside of work. Last year I assisted the Pride in London LGBT parade with Microsoft.
Yes
When people consider apprenticeship they often think of making tea/coffee or doing small tasks for their manager. Microsoft Apprenticeships are the complete opposites to the stereotypes. You are given a offical job as an employee and you learn how the work you impacts the whole Microsoft corporation.
Be yourself and ask loads of questions. I would not be hear today if I wasn't curious
