On a day to day basis my role involves checking gate dates for projects, engaging with senior stakeholders to ensure each gate date is managed and is going to be met. We produce reports to help highlight any issues to stakeholders, this is to ensure that issues are being managed effectively.
On my journey as an apprentice I have learnt many new skills, I have improved on my soft skills as I am engaging with senior stakeholders. I can use PPM tool to manage projects. I can now use excel to generate beneficially reports. I have also developed knowledge around sharepoint a tool I have never used before, I can now create teamsites.
I have enjoyed my programme, my team are great, whilst helping me on my journey they also make me laugh. I enjoy the culture at my organisation, this is because they allow me to work flexibly however the task still needs to be completed to a high standard.
I feel valued by British Gas this is because when I have delivered something beneficial recognition is always there, our CIO was extremely pleased with an application us apprentices delivered and he is supporting us to roll this application out to British Gas.
Our programmed is extremely well organised, this is because of the fantastic job our HR manager has done. The plan for our apprenticeship was written up and communicated to use on our first few days, this includes, training days and DofE days.
I have received a lot of support from QA our training provider, whenever I have a question they reply to my emails quickly so I am left in good stead to complete the assignment to be best of my ability.
I receive a lot of information from my employer/manager, whenever I have an issue he helps me work through it, this is done by outlining my next steps or suggesting that I take a step that I haven't thought off to mitigate the issue.
The apprentice wage is above average for my course, however with the living costs in London I am hoping that the salary will increase at the end of the apprenticeship.
There are many opportunities outside of work. British Gas encourage employees to take part in volunteering and getting involved with the local community to make it a better place.
Yes
