My current role is a project management apprentice and I work within a project management office team. I assist with the compliance and governance on the account I have been assigned to - Specifically, I managed the on-boarding & off-boarding process as my main responsibility.
I have greatly developed many soft skills such as communication from being on a client facing account and attending training sessions like the 7 Habits.
I feel the programme very enjoyable - One of the things I like most about the programme is having the chance to work in such a diverse environment with many different people and cultures - Something I am rarely exposed to where I live.
I do feel valued at times - However I am not sure if it is because I am naturally quiet unless spoken to or usually just keep to myself, but I do feel that I sometimes fall "under the radar" so to speak.
Overall, it is very structured and everything was made clear from the start regarding what is expected of us and what we need to know.
I receive plenty of support from QA / my assessor - he is always available and easy to get hold of whenever I need something answered. All of the training workshops conducted by my assessor were enjoyable and informative.
I receive plenty of support from my employer regarding the companies work - However I don't receive as much support regarding my coursework from QA.
It has gotten better since I started - Currently I am on the National Living wage which has helped me greatly. The only large cost which I have is my travel as I am a long distance commuter, even now it costs over half of what I take home each month to pay for my season ticket.
I try and get involved in as much as I can, but traveling for the number of hours that I do makes it difficult.
Yes
Because Atos has given me plenty of amazing opportunities over the last 18 months, all of which have helped in my development - This is why I made the choice to do the long and expensive commute as I simply see it as the cost of opportunity... safe to say I'm getting my money's worth and then some with all of the development I've done.
Simply be honest when being interviewed, research the company beforehand so you can find where you can add the most value - Try to write down any skills of yours which you want to showcase during the who process of applying.
