I am an 18 year old higher apprentice working in the consulting department based in the Leeds office. My role consists of working on projects with clients. The type of work we carry out depends on the client, size of the team and nature of the project, however some examples include creating slide decks, budget tracking and Project Management Office. There is no set day in consulting and as a result there is a variety of work which we complete.
Working at PwC has enabled me to develop and learn a significant number of skills, all of which are complemented by the level 4 Qualification we are studying towards. There is also a significant number of internal training courses available, and so the potential to develop human capital is endless.
I significantly enjoy the programme and find that I have a good work/life balance. The Leeds office and the staff inside it make the programme even more enjoyable. It met my expectations.
I feel valued by PwC due to the number of opportunities we receive as a Higher Apprentice, as well as constant praise and appreciation from managers, co workers and senior staff. We are given significant responsibility on projects which shows the faith they have placed in us.
The programme is very well structured, our initial induction took place in London where we met the apprentices across the country. We are provided with plenty of support and information regarding the programme going forward. We are rotated around projects every 4-6 months, which allows us to gain a depth of experience.
We are allowed time each month to study for our exams and complete course material. Our KAPLAN tutor is also easily accessible and is always there to support us and to offer guidance
At Pwc, we receive an excellent amount of support. We are allocated a 'buddy' who is available to help us with any queries we may have. As well as this we are allocated a manager who is there to ensure everything is well, and provide us with mentoring and guidance. Everyone around the office is extremely welcoming and is always happy to help
For my personal situation, the salary/package allows me to live comfortably and save at the same time as I am living at home. Travel costs to the office are minimal, and travel costs to anywhere but the office are usually expensable.
At PwC, there are endless opportunities outside of work. In the Consulting department, there is weekly football and netball for example. There is a strong emphasis on charity work, and local community contributions and spirit. There are endless team and office socials.
Yes
PwC is an incredible firm, with a strong brand which offers endless opportunities to develop and learn new skills. As an employee, regardless of grade and line of service, we are well looked after and made to feel valued. The Leeds office in particular is an amazing office with a unique culture which is very enjoyable.
The tips I would offer to people applying to PwC would be to practice before completing any of the tasks! The online tests, assessment centre and interview are all challenging and as a result is is of extreme importance that you practice before hand!
