I work as a smart energy expert. I install smart gas and electric meters in customers homes. I also help to give energy advice so that customers can reduce their usage.
I have gained qualifications in meter installation and I'm gas safe registered. I have gained lots of new skills through the practical work that I carry out on a daily basis and also skills in customer interaction
I really enjoy the programme as I am learning new skills every day and work with a good group of people who help make the job easier as we all share our experiences together which helps to further improve knowledge. british gas is a great company to work for as they provide all of the help and support you need
I have a good relationship with my manager and fellow team members. praise and constructive criticism is always given on a regular basis to aide improvement.
it was a 19 week programme so there was a lot to cram in in a short space of time. I feel that it was structured well enough for us to spend the right amount of time on each aspect of the course. there was quite a lot of reading required in your own time but it was worthwhile
support was always on hand from the various tutors in the training academy. I was never afraid to phone or email anyone else for further support if needed. everyone was very helpful and supportive no matter what the issue was
the manager was in touch on a regular basis to see how we were getting on throughout the training. as was the mentor I had. they both helped with any queries I had
I struggled at the start when only on 12k but things were a little easier when the wages started to rise. although everyone would always like a little more money to keep them going
we recently had a 5 a side football competition was all of the neighbouring wards from different areas. that was good because you get to socialise with others outside your team. my manager is always keen for us to have team nights out too to raise morale between us
Yes
I really enjoy working with british gas so would definetly recommend them to a friend. this is because they will receive the best quality training and equipment. its a very rewarding company to work for
I would talk them through the application process and what to expect from interviews etc. give any extra knowledge that would be helpful to have known before I started so that they could ease into the role quicker
