Technical Gas Engineer, learning about how to service and fix a variety of domestic gas appliances. This involves alternately spending time in a dedicated training academy learning theory and practising in well equipped workshops. Then spending time on patch working with a mentor in customers houses.
Through this process I have developed a better understanding of customer service skills through British Gas's model visit training. In terms of technical knowledge everything I have learnt in regards to fixing and servicing gas appliances is brand new to me so has been a very exciting but difficult challenge.
I'm 32, have a degree and have had numerous jobs with a variety of small, medium and large businesses and this apprenticeship has been the best training program I have ever been a part of so far.
There is Ann incredible amount of effort, time and cost involved in training an engineer and you can feel the value you bring to the apprenticeship throughout. As long as you show capability and a good professional work attitude you are very valued.
As I said before the best training programme I have been on more organised and structured than even a degree from a university. So much so you have to go in full speed ahead all the way.
The support systems in place are very apparent and you are supported well throughout.
All along the programme you are supported to achieve the goals required.
It is extremely competitive much more than any apprentice wage I have previously seen.
To get onto the apprenticeship you are guaranteed a job as long as you complete and pass everything required. Outside of British Gas there are many opportunities in this industry.
Yes
Already have to many, so impressed with the apprenticeship so far.
Dedication dedication dedication.
