I am placed in the BI Tech team in Big Data. My day to day role consists of gathering and storing information of current projects, BAU's, small changes and ingests and making sure there are visible means for people to view the statuses and information of what is undergoing within Big Data.
Yes, I entered this apprenticeship with no previous skills in IT and from starting this apprenticeship I find that I have learnt tonnes of skills when working with computers and when working with business. I feel that I developing everyday to become a more professional working adult.
I find that working with the British Gas team is the most enjoyable part of working here. The people I am surrounded by are always helpful, kind and understandable which makes every day here as enjoyable as the last
I feel incredibly valued to be part of British Gas and I am yet to have any major problem with them. They have great service for the staff and can help resolve problems quickly and with ease.
I feel that the programme could be better as I feel that when in work I could be developing a lot more and learning more within the company to be more confident with systems that we use. Other than this our set training is going very well and I feel that it covers a lot of incredibly useful areas.
QA offers great support. I meet with my assessor on a regular basis who is incredibly helpful and always keeps on top of how the apprentices are doing and any problems that they have. When in training QA offers great tutors that are always helpful and always make sure that we get work done to the best of our abilities.
I feel that we get a good amount of support from the emplyer yet I feel that there could be more focus on development within the workplace rather than only developing at training.
The salary is perfect for the level that I am at and so far have had no troubles with living, travel and daily costs. The location is easy to get to and does not greatly effect my budgeting.
So far I have not taken part in opportunities outside of work yet we are often offered oppertunities to take part in apprenticeship activites and are also offered oppertunities to visit our companies engineers.
Yes
It is a Great company that are always here to help and develop staff whilst also giving the opportunity to work within a great IT department in a well recognised company.
No prior experience is required in IT to get the apprenticeship as they will build you from what you know already. The recruitment team are also incredibly helpful and welcoming which makes the applictaion and interview process a lot better and comfortable for the person applying.
