I am currently doing the business apprenticeship scheme at MBDA. Within this apprenticeship you move around many different areas of the business allowing you to get a full overview of what each section does and how they have an impact on one another. In the final year of my apprenticeship I will do a year in MEP where I will then finish my time and work in this area of the business.
Skills that I have learnt and developed are: Organisation, Confidence, Team Working, Personal Awareness,Problem Solving
I feel my apprenticeship at MBDA is enjoyable. This is due to being able to move around the business viewing different aspects of it and working with new people on a regular basis. The apprenticeship has met the majority of my expectations and has exceeding in some.
At MBDA I feel a valued member of whatever team I am working with, this is then reflected and demonstrated in the regular reviews that we have when we finish each of our placements.
The apprenticeship is well structured as you are given a in depth induction to the business and also a lot of training in order to be able to develop you as an individual and to support us in our roles within the business. We also undertake a business degree at Bolton University, which develops our understanding of business as a whole which is very beneficial. However, I feel that the transition between placements could be organised more effectively.
In our apprenticeship we also study towards an NVQ, when doing this we are given a lot of support by our training provider (Alliance Learning). They provide us with regular feedback on our assignments and also come into MBDA to give us one to one feedback and support.
Since I started my apprenticeship in September last year I have been given a significant amount of support from many individuals throughout the business. This being from a buddy when I first started to my new line managers providing me with different training support to meet my objectives in that specific placement.
I feel that the salary that we receive is reasonable, however slightly below average in comparison to other apprenticeship schemes at this level. In respect to living costs our apprenticeship breaks down to just above the national minimum wage and therefore you do not have much extra money for social costs, due to paying travel costs and other daily expenses.
We are given the opportunity to take part in many company events and activities such as school talks etc.
Yes
I feel this apprenticeship is a very good scheme to have the opportunity to get on. MBDA provide us with a lot of training and learning opportunities to help us develop as individuals and also employees and the scheme so far has been very enjoyable.
Be truthful Prepare well, research the business prior to applying Try to be as confident as you can
