At the end of the 5 year scheme you will be a chartered accountant. You will attend college courses to obtain this qualification and on the whole the training for audit will be learnt whilst on the job. You will use excel most days and interact with clients and within your team on a daily basis which will develop your social skills.
The school leaver programme has been a great experience and one that I would highly recommend. You will meet some great individuals at work both internally and externally. The work that you complete will be challenging encourages career progression.
Everyone within EY is highly valued and you receive a great deal of appreciation from your Managers and the rest of your team when you complete work to a high standard.
Training is external and provided by Kaplan. Tutors are accessible throughout the day and late at night and from my experience have always been happy to help with any problems.
You receive a great level of support from everyone within EY. You work mainly within a team, who will offer you a great deal of support and help when you are completing your work. You are given a buddy when you join to help you settle in to the firm that you can speak to on informal matters and you are also given a counsellor who is a formal point of contact, where you can discuss matters such as career progression.
EY offer a competitive salary for those joining which is likely to increase year on year. EY also pay for travel costs when not travelling to the office.
There are a number of company events that one can participate in such as audit fun days, summer and winter balls as well as sports clubs such as the EY football team. There are also 2 days a year where one can volunteer for a charity as part of CSR, which EY take very seriously.
