Every 3 months you are put in a different placement which means that you have a wide overview of the company as a whole and what every department done. I have only had two placements so far and my first one was customer support which was going out of the office and meeting the customers. My current placement is in manufacture which is 6 months long. My day to day task would be either wiring, machining or fitting and assembly.
I have completed many courses such as product awareness, explosive awareness and equality and diversity (and many more). I go to college once a week where I am studying towards a HND in mechanical
The company is very diverse and there are many opportunities to work as a team as well as getting involved in individual projects. I enjoy working here because I like working and learning at the same time.
When working in a project or participating in an event I do feel valued as I do get thank you emails and messages from colleagues. I do feel appreciated when I put in hard work to get jobs done and I like he fact that it is noticed.
The work side of the apprenticeship is very well structured and organised. It is clear what needs to be done, the college side is also organised but there is room for improvement.
If I need support I can email/call my line manager/ boss for help and they will be able to guide me, which is very helpful. They do have a general attitude towards supporting you with problems.
If I need support I know that I will receive it from my boss or HR as they are very supportive when problems occur. They offer a mentor scheme, if you want to have a mentor to speak with in confidence as well.
My salary meets my costs very well as I have enough money for living, travel, social and still can save as well. I live over 20 miles away from work so I do spend a lot of money on petrol but I do earn enough to cover for all my expenses.
There are plenty of opportunities outside of work such as company events or activities, voluntary events and leisure/ sports clubs that you can enrol yourself in.
Yes
This is a very good company with plenty of opportunities to not only grow as a person but to gain core skills that will be valuable for life.
Make sure you have hobbies and do things outside of college/school because they like people who do things outside of work. To apply there is an application form to fill and if you pass that then there is an assessment day and then finally an interview.
