Shadowed a different trainee in a different department every day. I was given some tasks to do including research, filing, photocopying and reading through cases. There were also presentations on different aspects of law every morning.
I learned more abut law, and how to successfully apply to a solicitor's firm. I learned more about different areas of law through speaking to the people I was shadowing.
I enjoined it a lot. I learned a lot from the week and it was really good to move around seats, as I was able to talk to a variety of people who gave me valuable insight into law. People were really friendly and there were opportunities to meet other people in the work experience programme.
Everyone was very polite and organised. When I had questions people were happy to answer them for me. People gave me genuine work to do, and I felt I was being useful.
We were given a full induction, and we met as a group every morning, so I got to know the people onto he scheme well. Despite being held during the storms, so some people couldn't get in, they managed to still organise a successful programme.
Varied from day to day. One left slightly early, so I was a bit stuck, but most had loads of time for me, and I was able to ask them lots of questions and they were very helpful.
The HR team were very helpful on the first day, and provided a really warm welcome.
They didn't pay me. I'm not complaining, but Mishcon de Reya gave me £50...
We (work experience) went for a drink on Thursday night, but we organised that ourselves.
Yes
It was really friendly and informative, and I felt it was really beneficial to me. It was really structured, so you always knew where you were going, and you weren't alone. There was slots of informational about routes into law, and advice about applications, which will most probably prove to be very beneficial in the future. You also moved seat every day, so you got different perspectives, and you got to learn about different areas of law from different perspectives.
Make sure you spend enough time on the application. Everyone who got in did, and otherwise it's just wasted time. Make sure you understand something about law, or you'll be really confused all week... You'll need to find out about Pinsent's core values for the application, but make sure you know a bit about how they work, and a bit about law.
