Smart Energy Expert. British Gas provides training for MOCOPA and Gas Safe qualifications. The job entails fitting Smart Meters to customer homes, which involves customer interaction in their own homes. Training is provided in the British Gas training academy Dartford and by Mentors and Coaches whilst in the field.
I have gained two new qualifications and have developed a better understanding of customer interaction.
I have especially enjoyed the training and being back in a training environment. The support and training provided by British gas and their Learning Delivery Managers has been first class, as have the tools, equipment and resources provided.
I have been made to valued and supported and look forward to any other training opportunities that may arise.
Pretty well structured and organised considering the age, skill and experience ranges they are dealing with. There are lots of opportunities to give feedback and the program is evolving.
My Learning Delivery Manager has been excellent, friendly, supportive and a good listener.
They have been very supportive so far, much better than previous employers.
The basic salary is not very good at all whilst training but I knew that going in, I should imagine having a fairly new mortgage and young family would be a struggle without help from family or savings. Fortunately being older I don't have these problems, the company has provided a van / fuel costs, accommodation and meal provisions whilst at the academy.
Having nearly finished the initial training and qualifications and having to stay in hotels for a lot of it, going back to a hotel each night has been difficult. The company I understand does promote voluntary/ local community events and initiatives.
Yes
They have provided a training / support package above and beyond anything I've experienced elsewhere.
Do your homework, use the internet / forums etc . Be as sure as you can be the job is what you want. The application process was straight forward and welcoming. Full terms and conditions hours of work were a little difficult to pin down.
