My role is an assistant, it involves completing VAT returns for clients, bookkeeping and bank reconciliations and general accounts production on Sage, CCH and Excel.
I have learned a lot since I started as a school leaver. RSM have provided residential training courses and webinars which I completed when I first started. I have received external training as well, with BPP in London, where I have passed 3 AAT exams since November.
I enjoy the programme I am on because the team that I work with on a daily basis are really friendly and help me whenever I need it without hesitation. The tutors at BPP are knowledgeable in the topics they are teaching and can help with any questions I have.
I do feel valued by RSM, my manager provides regular review meetings. My manager and supervisor always provide me with feedback once I have completed a set of accounts. External recognition is when I pass my exams.
The programme with RSM and BPP is very organised and structured. RSM had provided me with a list of the training courses I would be attending with RSM and BPP, the dates of those courses and a time frame of when those courses need to be completed by.
I received regular support from BPP, my training provider. They send me emails leading up to my next course and during my course to make sure I am on track to completing the course and passing the exam. I also receive phone calls from my BPP assessor every 12 weeks to discuss how I am finding the course.
I receive a lot of support from RSM, my manager and supervisor are always available when I need help. The HR team are in my office once a week if I need to talk to them, or I can email/call them when they are not in.
My salary exceeds my living costs at the moment as I live at home with my parents. I drive to work so my travel costs are petrol which is easily met with my salary.
RSM provide loads of opportunity's outside of work. This week my office took part in a go karting race. There are a range of activities that RSM provide over the year.
Yes
RSM is a great company to work for because they provide really good training and support for my exams and for the job and everyone is really nice. The range of benefits they provide to employees is extensive as well.
I would advise people applying to RSM to be themselves, act professional, have a keen interest in the job role, do research on the company and current changes within the accountancy market before the interviews.
