I am a customer advisor at HAlifax. I started the apprenticeship March 2015. I found that I was regarded more as a normal memeber of staff and that the branch did not quite undertsand what being an apprentice ment. I would be on counter and help and advice in the bank and sunshining and directing customers to the right place.
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills through being willing to take on extra work and putting myself out there.
I did not feel as though the program help with my development in branch. I enjoyed the jobrole but felt exactuslly the same as every other staff memeber except with more workload.
I feel valued as a memeber of staff by Lloyds banking group but I dont feel the apprenticeship program was not valued and was sidelined in practice.
It was poorly organised at the beggining of the program the trainer did not turn up for weeks and then left shortly after seeing me. By the time I had a commited trainer in place I was working towards moving onto the next role and had my sights firmly set on progresing within the company and felt it was holding me back.
The training provider who I am eventually completing the apprenticeship with has been excellent she has been very organised and as done all she can to recover the program. I have given a low score due to the lack of support throiugh the first 6/7 months othewrwise my curent trainer would get a 9.
I dont feel the branch staff understood that I was even an apprentice.
My original salary could of been better and was a struggle but that quicly changed and the payrises were fair and quite favourable.
YEs there are a events and community work you can join in.
Yes
I would recommend the group to a friend as I realy enjoy what I do and think the bigger picture and the future of the group is bright.
I would advise them to make it very clear to there branch colleagues what being an apprentice intails. Be selfish otherwise you will never get your work done.
