  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am part of the private client team in BSE and help assist in preparing tax returns for individuals. I also help keep on track of the holiday planner and the filing. My manager reviews the returns and then I amend them and get them ready to sent to the client. I also email third parties for information

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills through writing regular letters to clients and my calling HMRC. I have also learnt how to juggle numerous tasks and work towards deadlines.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the company, the skills and behaviours as part of the BPP apprenticeship aren't the most helpful and aren't very clear but the outline of them it good.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by RSM?
  • I am involved and I do feel valued. Last week, one manager allowed me to accompany her to a client and this made me feel like I had made progress and was appreciated.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • BPP haven't been the most organised, my apprentice skills were delivered late and then I started behind. I have also found that the qualification and skills don't compliment each other well.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive study materials from BPP which are very good and the webinars are good but the outside support is vague and not overally helpful

    5/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support, I often go to my employer before BPP as they are more in tune with the course and the content, they also know the struggle of balancing work and study

    8/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It gives me sustainability and considering I do not have to pay for training it is very adequate. Luckily I live locally so travel costs are minimal.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Not really, I found it very difficult to find an apprenticeship as a school leaver- everyone seemed to think that uni was the only option which was frustrating.

    5/10

  • 9. Would you recommend RSM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They make you feel welcome and are very engaged with your needs and training, they start involving you early on and the work compliments the study aspect well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSM?
  • Just be yourself, show passion for working in tax/accountancy and determination to work hard as this will be rewarded. RSM like team players and lots of spirit!
